어느 Starbucks 매장의 창문에 적혀 있던 안내문입니다. 반려동물을 데리고 와서는 안되지만, Service Animal은 환영한다는 내용입니다.

아래는 어느 Costco 매장에 붙은 안내문입니다. 특히 이 안내문에는 Service Animal이 무슨 뜻인지 잘 설명하고 있습니다.

• "Service Animal" means any animal trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability.
• Service animals are not allowed in the shopping cart.
• Pets providing emotional support, well being, comfort or companionship are not recognized as service animals under ADA regulations.
• Misrepresenting a dog as a service animal is a criminal violation.

위에서 ADA는 Americans with Disabilities Act 즉 장애인 보호법의 약자입니다. 이처럼 Starbucks, Costco에서도 준수하는 내용인데, 공공기관은 더 모범을 보여야 합니다.
